Tehran, is the capital of Iran and Tehran Province. With a population of around 8.3 million and surpassing 14 million in the wider metropolitan area, Tehran is Iran’s largest city and urban area, and the largest city in Western Asia. The city is home to many historic mosques, churches, synagogues and Zoroastrian fire temples. However, modern structures, notably Azadi (Freedom) Tower and the Milad Tower, have come to symbolize the city.
Language: Linguistically diverse, Persian (Farsi) is spoken by the majority of Iranians. Several other related Indo-Iranian languages belonging to the Indo-European language family are spoken - Kurdish, Gilaki, Mazandarani, et al. Sizeable minority languages include Armenian, Azeri Turkish, Caucasian languages such as Georgian and Circadian, and Arabic, among others.
Religion: Islam is the national religion.
Passport and Visa: Every foreign visitor entering Iran, must possess a valid passport and visa. Participants from countries requiring a visa entry to Iran are strongly advised to make their applications in their home countries at least one month before the intended date of travel. Time Zone:Time zone of Tehran is [GMT +3.5] in Iran. Please note that weekend days are Thursdays and Fridays.
Weather in February: Although Iran is a four season country, but heavy snow and very cold weather is not expected in February during the last couple of years due to global warming. A chilly temperature of about 10°C during the day and about zero at night with frequent rain or light snow is expected during the congress event.
